Exhaust Crossover Systems
Many V-6 and V-8 engines use a crossover pipe to duct gas from one exhaust manifold to the other. The crossover pipe encounters very hot exhaust gas temperatures and extreme vibration, as well as relative motion between manifolds caused by thermal expansion. Crossover pipes need an expansion joint to prevent damage to the manifolds and/or cylinder heads at extreme operating conditions. The typical automotive exhaust system today runs very hot and is exposed to a corrosive environment. Engineering an exhaust crossover bellows demands careful attention to engine vibration and thermal dynamics, to ensure life-long durability. Senior's thin-wall, flexible bellows designs solve the engine crossover problems in today's engines. These crossover bellows are designed to withstand the corrosive, large vibrations, and thermal extremes present in automotive exhaust systems. |
